'Video games a bigger problem than guns' - US senator

Gun control and video games continue to headline debates in the US. Today, a US senator has labelled video games "a bigger problem" than owning a real gun.

"I think video games is [sic] a bigger problem than guns, because video games affect people," United States Senator Lamar Alexander told US news service MSNBC.

"But the First Amendment limits what we can do about video games and the Second Amendment to the Constitution limits what we can do about guns," Alexander added.

Damn that Constitution allowing you to have fun and protecting your right to shoot another man in the face!

Tbh I've had enough. Let em slander games all they want- the second people stop paying attention to it will be the moment they'll have to start scapegoating something else.
limit all you want guys - the black market will simply prosper off your stupidity, and the modding community will fix the rest.
All the politicians/senators etc are doing is proving how detached they are from the working class and showing that all they can truly do is fearmonger - all my opinion of course.

I think what he meant is video games effect people psychologically more than a owning a gun.
Owning a gun doesn't make effect a person because its a tool, it's how the person lifestyle that effects him more damaging for example a person who plays video games all the time could effect their health, financially and also effect people close to them. I've use to play a lot of games in the past and that effected my lifestyle like my physical n mental health, studies n social life, then my dad introduced me in sport shooting and now I play less games, my health and performance in school improved.

Many will disagree but please respect my opinion and don't reply with hostility.

my brain hurts how can people be so stupid its not the video games its the people that play them or not who already have something wrong with them like the guy who shot up the theater he didn't just watch batman and say I want to be a killer he would of had some sort of past trauma its neither games guns or movies its the gun laws over there that give people who should not be aloud to have or be near weapons of any kind.

I get what your saying too The_Boss I'm glad to hear your doing better

It's great that you live a more balanced life now. Games can affect some people. But they don't turn ppl into killers. Having easy acess to high powered rifles and possible psychological problems is more likely the problem.

I think in saying that though, if you to were play with your guns all the time as you did your videogames, surely it would have the "affect" on you.

when I played too much Video games it affected me negatively but when I took up doing more sports like rifle and skeet shooting then my lifestyle improve. I only use my guns for sports and they are locked up in my local gun range.

I've done martial arts (karate, judo and Krav Maga) in my past but it didn't make me a aggressive person it actually made me more less aggressive and never used the lessons I've learned from it to anyone. :)

Video games can effect people negative or positive depending how they use it for me I play it because I enjoy the story, challenge and fun that comes with it and guns do kill people but only if it was used by a crazy person.

I reckon it's time to protest. No wait that's encouraged by video games. Then it's time to send a letter. But damn, you can't do that cause it happens in a games too. That's alright I will just go shoot someone, that'll solve everything won't it. You know why? Cause the government will get majority of the money for that.
Thieves!

This is just total BS, they just point the finger yet don't take notice of what's going on around them. I hope all this money they are putting into this survey pays off.
